About the Cover Photo: Kate Philips took the shot. I’ve always been fascinated by Rebecca’s impulse to literally embody art as well as create it. I thought her tattoos would make a relevant cover, because I saw some obvious parallels between tattooing and the whole songwriting/recording process.

You take some dominant themes in your life, symbolize and sanctify them to a degree by converting them into art, endure some short-term pain to make a long-term statement, then take a little time out to heal.

And you’re never quite the same again.

About the Band Name: As has been often stated; “Wicked Gift” refers to the double-edged sword quality of “being gifted”, whether with beauty, brains, athletic ability, etc. Having watched countless episodes of VH1’s “Behind the Music” over the years, I can’t help but consider a “gift for music” the wickedest gift of all.
